How to Attach Open Pegasus Wings to a Pony Plushie by equinepalette How to Attach Open Pegasus Wings to a Pony Plushie by equinepalette
I use what is basically a stiffened felt stabilizer in my open wings because it doesn't deform like wire, it's got a bit of cushion to it so it's not hard like wire, but it also still provides enough support to hold the wings up. But, regardless of your method of reinforcement, add a few inches of length for support on the end of your wings and this method will do you wonders!

I realize it's a pretty simple idea, but no judgement! I needed a cathartic release on this one! I always giggle when attaching wings to pegusai because this goes through my head. Enjoy a tutorial/comic thing.

I don't like to spam profiles with "Thanks for the :+fav:!"

What is the white tab sticking out of the wings? Do the take shape of the wing?

In this case, it's a sort of stiffened felt. It's in the shape of the wing and the fabric is kind of slid over it like a glove.

Thank you for your quick reply! I see. Do you think a thick craft foam would suffice in substitute for the stiffened felt?

Thank you again!

Craft foam tends to be more flimsy, so I couldn't say. You're looking for something a little less than the stiffness of cardboard.

Ah, I see. That helps narrow down the type of material :D Thank you again!

She looks a little too happy to have her wings cut off at the beginning... Creepy.

Well, her wings weren't cut off! They just... Fell off by some unexplained accident!

I'm actually in the process of making a plush and I'm getting to the wings soon, and the idea of putting support on the wings to keep them up is helpful :)

Nice.  What kind of white thread is that?  It looks thick.  I may need to reinforce the open wing roots on one of my Dashie plushies.

On my small ones, I just use doubled all purpose thread and make small stitches, but if you're needing some reinforcement on a larger plush, I recommend upholstery thread! I use it for all of my handsewing on plushes above 18".
