Okay, a little backstory. These two are siblings, children of Trixie and an OC named Mark (who I also redesigned some time ago). They have an adopted sister Magnolia as well. We'll do these two individually.

Free Spirit didn't need a whole lot of changes. Played with the colors to bring them closer together on the color wheel, made his mane less sparkly... I was asked to give him a shield cutie mark to have ties to his adopted sister, so I did! I imagine he's part of the Royal Guard. A firey, confident, perhaps a bit overly hotheaded soldier, but one of the most passionate.

Firestrider (though her name seems a bit odd now) I altered a bit more drastically. Her original combination of purple-blue and green doesn't work well, so I looked back at her parents for inspiration. Grabbed some of the darker colors from Mark as well as his eyes, and took some colors from Trixie's hair. Her cutie mark is also obviously inspired by Trixie's, but also includes the idea of containing her chaotic magic. About that:  a unique thing about this OC that I was told--she's autistic. The thing most people tend to gloss over is that Autism often makes people ultra sensitive, so I took that idea and ran with it. Being a more sensitive unicorn, her magic isn't necessarily more powerful than any other unicorn's, but it's more uncontrolled and has larger extremes. However, her father Mark, a psychologist, helped her to realize that this a great asset, not a disability. With the aid of a magic titration band, she can more fine-tunely control her magic than the average unicorn, being that her magic has spanned the full extremes from one side to the other. It allows her to assist other unicorns with THEIR magic, adding just the right magical forces to their spells to amplify them in amazing ways. Thanks to this ability, she's a valuable asset to the Royal Guard's defenses as well, though she tends to stick very closely to her brother.

Hope you like!

I love the new Firestider (Can't change the name now, it's seared into my head!) She just works! I especially like the magic ring idea that she has. It makes sense for her. The cutie mark works on more levels then you will ever know for my purposes.

And I love the way that Free's new mane looks. That style fits closer to what I was originally thinking for him. However, the cutie mark doesn't sit right with me. This is my bad. I had already thought out pretty much what I wanted his cutie mark to be, and I didn't tell you.
This is closer to what I had envisioned.

One more thing, and I'm only going to say this since you have two more things for Free. I appreciate that you want to put some personality flavor into my characters, but... Free is way too fleshed out for that at this point. He is actually a level headed educational type, psychology and philosophy major. His cutie mark stand for the fire the burns inside of him when he believes in something, and the shield stands for his willingness to defend it. He likes to speak his mind, but is also open minded to others. He is often uses diplomacy during disagreements, and will try anything he can to avoid physical violence. But no matter how many times he gets knocked down, he will get back up and stand for what he believes is right.

Sorry about that! I usually conceptualize personalities and talents based on overall appearance of the pony, so that's where that came from. Appearances can always be deceiving, though! However, I'm not sure how well the gray red and orange colors mesh with his palette--you usually want to balance the colors across the design so your eye doesn't focus solely on that one place. Like, if you have a color that sticks out in the cutie mark, you want to balance it in the mane or eye or accessory. It is your OC, though, so I'll take it into account for the other pictures.

I take the note, and have revised. Here is my new idea.

Now, I personally do think that the cutie mark should draw the eye, but it shouldn't be distracting. I don't like the idea of the purple flame. It simply doesn't look right. The idea with this new mark is that the gray and white will blend in since they are neutral colors, and the more yellowed out flames match to his coat better, but still stand out.

That should be a bit less harsh. I'll include the adjustments on future works.
